Andrea Price-Carter is a Senior Legislative Representative, Congressional Relations and Political Affairs (CRPA), within AARP’s Government Relations and Advocacy (GRA) Department. She joined the staff of AARP in January 2004, and the Congressional Relations Department in July 2006.

In her current position Andrea manages ongoing relationships with U.S. Senators and Representatives on AARP’s legislative priorities. She works systematically with state offices within the Southeast Region to enhance AARP’s visibility and favorability. She also contributes to the development of a Key Contact program, to advance AARP’s grassroots strategies and campaign management. She also serves as the GRA Department’s liaison to several House Leadership Offices and Congressional Caucuses.

Andrea previously held the position of Senior Legislative Representative for AARP’s Federal Affairs - Health Team. In this position she lobbied the Congress and the Administration on issues relating to the Medicare Program, and preventive health care initiatives.

Prior to working at AARP, Andrea held lobbying and government relations positions with several organizations: American College of Physicians; National Mental Health Association; and the Arthritis Foundation. Her Capitol Hill experience was obtained as a Legislative Assistant to former Congressman L.F. Payne (D-5th-VA). After leaving the Hill, she worked as a Senior Policy Analyst for former Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder’s Washington Office.

Andrea received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Howard University. She also received a Master’s of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Clark Atlanta University.

Andrea has been an active Washington Government Relations Group (WGRG) member since 1998.
