Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA)

Cherie Harris currently serves as the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA). In this capacity, she advocates before Congress and the Administration on behalf of the competitive power supply sector, which represents 40 percent of the nation’s installed generation capacity. Harris tracks and reports on developments in the following policy areas: energy, climate change, energy commodity trading, cyber security and other issues of importance to competitive power suppliers. Before joining EPSA, she served as Director of Federal Affairs for Constellation Energy, where she focused on climate change and environmental policy. Prior to joining the private sector, she worked on a variety of policy issues including energy, environment and health care in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Specifically, she served as a Legislative Assistant for former U.S. Representative Albert R. Wynn (D-MD) and as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Senate Special Committee on Aging for U.S. Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI).

Harris serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Government Relations Group, an organization devoted to the professional and social enhancement of African- American government relations professionals. She is also an active member of the Women’s Council on Energy and Environment. Harris obtained her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Political Science and a minor in Africana Studies. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies where she completed coursework in Development Economics.

An avid traveler, Harris has visited countries such as the People’s Republic of China, Egypt, Spain, Hungary, France and Italy and currently resides in our nation’s capital with her husband Robert.
