Krysta Jones

Krysta Jones has over 10 years of political and grassroots organizing, training, public speaking, and advocacy experience both internationally and domestically, and is well-respected in the DC metro area.

Ms. Jones is a senior legislative and federal affairs officer for the American Psychological Association (APA) where she handles women’s and poverty issues.

Krysta is also President and CEO of Krysta Jones Consulting, Inc., a company which specializes in advocacy and political consulting.

Ms. Jones is founder and chair of the Virginia Leadership Institute, Inc., (VLI) an organization that aims to increase the number of black elected officials in Virginia through training, mentoring and networking. Since 2006, the VLI has trained over 175 future candidates and campaign professionals.

She served in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, South America from 2000-2002 as a municipal services development consultant. While in Paraguay, she helped create student governments and consulted a local radio station on organizational development, resulting in $10,000 in grants from USAID and America Online.

Krysta has volunteered with various political campaigns and holds leadership roles in the Arlington County Democratic Committee.

Ms. Jones is Public Relations Vice President of the Arlington Jaycees, and serves on the board of directors for Women in Government Relations, the Washington Government Relations Group, and the Northern Virginia Region-Sorensen Political Leadership Institute. She is on the leadership team of the NOVA Coalition, a group of over 30 nonprofit groups led by the Northern Virginia Urban League which promotes civic engagement and advocacy. She is also a member of the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Jones received her Master's degree in Legislative Affairs from the George Washington University in Washington DC, her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Florida, and is a 2006 graduate of the Sorensen Political Leaders Program at the University of Virginia.
